It’s Time To Elect Our 2017-18 Parent Members!

Dear Marion County Knight Academy Parents:

I hope you’ll consider running for our school council, or encourage a friend to do so.
In Kentucky, each school has a council composed of the principal, elected teachers, and elected parents who make many of the most important decisions about how their school will work. The council is a wonderful chance to learn about our school, work closely with teachers, and help make our school even more successful than it is now.

The parent members of the council are elected by parents. They receive training and will serve from July 1, 2017 to June 30, 2018. To help with questions you may have, I’m enclosing a fact sheet about parent members of Kentucky school councils.  (FACT Sheet)

Nominations are due to Jennifer Russell in the school library no later than 3:30 pm on July 20, 2017. If you know someone who would be a good candidate, please do encourage that person to run.

The election will be held July 21, 2017, from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM in the school library. If you will have a child enrolled at Marion County Knight Academy next year, you are eligible to vote in this election. (This includes parents, step-parents and foster parents. Legal guardians are also eligible to vote if the child lives in their home.)

I urge every parent to participate in this important decision about the future of our children’s school. Results will be announced (and a runoff held if necessary) on July 21, 2017 at 12:15 PM in the school library?. Please plan to be present for this important event.
