LES Jr. Ambassadors host community members for leadership reception

The Lebanon Elementary School Jr. Ambassadors greeted community members and led a tour of the school’s facility Friday, September 29th prior to a leadership reception in the school’s library.  

The Jr. Ambassador program -- featuring a group of six students from the 4th and 5th grades -- is modeled after Marion County High School’s Ambassador program, which provides leadership experience through public speaking opportunities and community outreach.

The group consists of students Mya Kehm, Spencer Smith, Hayden Brockman, Keiana Ballard, Annistyn Spalding, and Tim Hardin.

During the event, LES’s group of Jr. Ambassadors met community invitees at the school’s entrance before leading them on a tour of the main office, multi-purpose room, and each of the school’s hallways.  The school’s visitors concluded their tour by attending a leadership reception in honor of the students who were being recognized as classroom leaders.

To be a part of the Jr. Ambassador program, students went through an application process before being selected.  This was the group’s first official activity.

“The Jr. Ambassadors at Lebanon Elementary School  will be the leaders of our community in the future,” LES principal Donna Royse said.  “They were chosen by an impartial panel of teachers based on leadership skills and a desire to represent our school.”

Also in attendance were four Marion County High School Ambassadors -- Hank Hardin, Jamison Epps, Jonathan Chesser, and Carly Clark -- all of whom attended LES as elementary students.

Both the MCHS Ambassador program and the LES Jr. Ambassador program is a part of Next Generation Marion County, which seeks to provide leadership opportunities for all students and is a part of the district’s 6 Big Dreams.
