4th graders Mia Osborne, Gabrielle Morgeson, Shelby Grubaugh, and June Ann Hill admire their Chihuly-inspired artwork.
Student artwork inspired by Dale Chihuly’s glass sculptures will be a part of Lebanon Elementary School’s Family Nights, March 26 and 27.
Students in Art Teacher Charles Ramey’s classes created paper artwork that was modeled after Chihuly’s exhibit that was recently on display at Maker’s Mark distillery.
Students in the 3rd and 4th grades visited Maker’s Mark to view Chihuly’s exhibit and students in all grades studied various works and techniques by Chihuly.
4th grader Trae Yocum holds his Chihuly-inspired artwork.
For example, students in Ramey’s 4th and 5th grade classes took coffee filters they had decorated and brushed them with liquid starch before draping them over cups and bowls. After drying, the filters retained the organic shapes similar to Chihuly’s sculptures.
In addition to the Art Showcase, the Family Nights will also feature a school-wide project explaining the “7 Habits of Happy Kids” which is a part of the Leader-in-Me program.
The March 26 Family Night is for grades Kindergarten through 2nd, and March 27 is for grades 3rd through 5th.
