The graduating class of West Marion Elementary enjoyed celebrating their successes at Lebanon's Graham Memorial Park. Students in Mrs. Kelly's class completed a tally chart, bar graph and probability activity using Smarties. 2016-2017 5th Grade P.E. Program 2016-2017 5th Grade P.E. Program 2016-2017 5th Grade P.E. Program Students in Mrs. Keene's class work with a partner to complete a math FAL (formative assessment lesson). Batman visited WMES and encouraged students to never give up, do the right thing, help others and don't be a bully! West Marion Elementary Academic Team placed 1st at the 2017 District Governor's Cup Competition, which was held at Glasscock Elementary on Saturday, February 11th. Mrs. Kelly's class recently celebrated the 100th day of school and tie day (Mr. Tanen's Ties). Grandparents Day for Mrs. Thomas' class West Marion Awards Night 2017 West Marion Awards Night 2017 West Marion Awards Night 2017 West Marion Awards Night 2017 WMES helped Girl Scout Troop 553 collect exactly 600 cans of pet food for the Marion County Animal Shelter. The winning class is Mrs. Taylor's preschool with 104 cans! 
WMES GT students donated Fun Store proceeds to the Salvation Army.  Mr. John Gordon, our local chairperson, accepted the donation. WMES GT students donated funds generated from their Fun Store project to donate to WMES FRC to support needy families for the holidays. The Mobile Science Activity Lab visited West Marion Elementary. The Mobile Science Lab visited West Marion Elementary. Preschool students in Mrs. Taylor's class participated in their first Two-Bite Club meeting. Kindergarten students visited the Louisville Science Center. Kindergarten students visited the Louisville Science Center.  AWF (Appalachian wildlife foundation) 
Ethan Essex attended a presentation by the governor and our state representative Hal Rogers of a $12.5 mil grant to the AWF to build a wildlife center. The purpose of the grant is to boost economics and tourism in areas where jobs have been lost from coal. Mrs.Peterson's Class colored pages to Say Boo!! to Drugs as a part of Red Ribbon Week! Mrs.Kelly's Class did a Science collaboration lesson with Mr. Taylor. We had 25 participants in our Book Character Pumpkin Contest. They did a phenomenal job! We were blown away with the amount of creativity and effort shown by our students, and we are so proud of each one of them! It was very difficult to pick the winners.

3rd Place: Carson Osborne West Marion students learned about school safety from Buster the Bus. These students received the Page Award for the month of September. Congratulations WMES! Dream Bus Schedule Summer 2017

Dream Bus summer schedule will begin on Tuesday May 30, 2017 and end on Friday July 21, 2017.  The Week of July 3rd through July 7th the Dream Bus will not run.

New Kindergarten Enrollment Requirement

Birth Date Cutoff for Kindergarten Enrollment Moved to August 1

As a result of House Bill 235, the birthday cutoff for entrance to kindergarten will change from October 1 to August 1 beginning the 2017-2018 school year.  This will require incoming kindergarten students to turn 5 on or before August 1. 

Parents/guardians whose children do not meet the age requirements may inquire about the early entrance petition process by contacting the Marion County Board of Education at 270-692-3721.  The deadline for submitting a petition for the 2017-2018 school year is June 15, 2017.
