The 41-member Marion County High School Student Ambassador program – now in its fifth year – helps students develop the skills and dispositions necessary to achieve transition readiness. The group is part of the Next Generation Marion County Initiative and works to promote the successes of MCPS. Ambassadors participate in board of education meetings, provide tours of school campuses, assist with community events, and assume numerous other leadership and mentorship responsibilities.
This spring, the group will host its Fourth Annual Young Leaders' Conference bringing together 60 students in grades 4-8 for a one-day event designed and led by the ambassadors. The day concludes with an awards luncheon. Below is a video highlighting the 2018 Young Leaders' Conference.
The group is advised by MCPS Gifted and Talented Consultant Laurie Followell and Instructional Supervisor Troy Benningfield.
