What We Are Learning:
In Reading this week,  we are reading a chapter book entitled "The Power of Magnets."  Our Reading Skills this week week are Cause and Effect. I always send home the reading book on Monday and Tuesday night. The student is required to read story as homework, and parent should sign it on the "Parent Signature" sheet attached inside the front cover of the book. This is DUE BY WEDNESDAY of the week! This gives them two nights to complete this homework assignment. In Grammar, we covered Homophones.  In Math, we finished a unit on Time.  In Spelling the focus was words with words with double consonants.  We have had another very productive and busy week, and we are ready to go again on Monday!  We have started conducting leveled groups in the afternoons, four days a week.  This is a great opportunity for your child to spend some time in a different group, with other students with similar learning styles/levels. Ask your child about their group, the chapter book we are reading, who the other children are in that group, etc.! :)
Accelerated Reader Point Club:
I require students to get at least 5 A.R. points per month.  This is easily accomplished, and is a part of their reading success!!  I like to let you know through this newsletter, the goals students have reached!!!
