Thank you for visiting my classroom website.
Before we get started learning in the classroom, allow me a moment to introduce myself. This will be my seventh year teaching 9th grade social studies in Marion County. Prior to moving to the high school, I taught 8th grade science at Lebanon Middle School and 8th grade science/language arts at Washington Co Middle School (under an emergency certification). While I enjoyed teaching science and language arts, the subject I love to teach the most is social studies!
I graduated from Marion Co High School in 1997 and am thrilled to teach in the same coutny where I fell in love with social studies. My goal is to bring history alive and instill the love I have for social studies in my students through engaging activities and projects as well as interactive technology. I received my bachelor's degree in secondary education with an emphasis on social studies from Campbellsville University and my master's in the Literacy Specialist program at University of the Cumberland's.
I have been married to my high school sweetheart, Jamie, a production engineer at TGKY, for 13 years and we have 3 children. We reside among the historical ambiance of Perryville where I can sit on my front porch and view the pre Civil War era buildings and other historical landmarks of that time period. In our spare time we enjoy remodeling our 1920's home, cooking, watching NASCAR and football and spending time with our extended families. I also enjoy decorating cakes (I've even made a few wedding cakes) and I love anything crafty. I have way too little time to complete the many pinterest projects on my to-do list. I love all things Disney and I could visit a zoo or aquarium every day and never get bored.
Thanks again for visiting my classroom webpage. I hope you will find it informative and easy to use. Check back frequently for news, upcoming events and activities!
